Am I too old for braces?
No. Teeth move at any age, and a good share of our orthodontic patients are adults in their thirties, forties and beyond.
What changes with age is not whether treatment works, but what we need to watch. Gum health and existing dental work matter more, so we check both before recommending anything. Treatment can take slightly longer than it would for a teenager.
If you had braces as a teenager and your teeth have moved back since, that is common and usually a shorter piece of work than you expect.

Clear aligners are the most popular choice with adults, because they are nearly invisible. They rely on you wearing them around twenty two hours a day.
Fixed braces are more predictable for complex bite correction and need no discipline once fitted. Ceramic brackets make them far less visible than the braces you may remember.

Most private health funds with orthodontic extras pay a portion of adult treatment, usually against a lifetime limit rather than a yearly one.
Bring your card to the consultation and we will check what you have available and give you a written quote showing the gap. Payment plans are available on top of any rebate.
If you are close to your limit, it is sometimes worth timing the start of treatment around it, and we will tell you if that applies.
How long adult treatment takes
